The family members became angry when two patients were kept on one bed in the New Chest Ward of MY Hospital, Indore. After this he beat up three resident doctors and the lady guard. The female guard and a doctor were seriously injured in the incident.
On Tuesday night, a relative of a patient attacked three resident doctors and a female guard with a belt, stick and chair in the New Chest Ward of MY Hospital complex in Indore. In this, Dr. Shwetank Soni and guard Radha Joshi suffered head injuries. Others have also sustained minor injuries.
Police arrested four accused. This incident that took place in the hospital premises has exposed the security arrangements being made by the management, because only one woman guard was on duty during the incident. There are no CCTV cameras installed here either.
Police registered a case
The relatives allege that there is a delay in the treatment here, two children are being admitted on one bed. When we asked for a separate bed, we were turned away. A case was registered against Deepak, Pradeep Solanki, Gorelal and Tanu at Sanyogitaganj police station at 4.30 am.
After the incident, doctors demonstrated at MY Hospital gate. Met the Dean and Police Commissioner regarding the demands. Dr. Shwetank told that he was on duty at night. Then the relatives of six-year-old Shivansh came and started arguing about the treatment.
He started abusing, when he refused then the relative beat him with a stick, belt and chair. When guard Radha and colleagues Dr. Keshav Agarwal and Dr. Sanchi Agarwal came to his rescue, they were also beaten up.
Will go on strike if security is not improved in seven days
The Junior Doctors Association has warned the hospital management that if the security arrangements are not improved within seven days, we will go on strike. President Dr. Akash Verma told that he has met the Dean. Earlier also we had demanded to increase security personnel after the Kolkata incident. The wall of New Chest Ward is also broken. For this reason people come jumping from there. There are also not enough cameras.
Indore doctors will provide services in the health camp
On the initiative of Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh, a health camp is being organized in the division. A division level health camp will be organized at Jhirnya in Khargone district on 16th November. More than 150 specialist doctors and private doctors from Medical Colleges Indore and Khandwa will reach the camp to provide their services. Health check-up of people will be done in this camp.
