Deependra Goyal, CEO of online food delivery Zomato, has announced a new feature. The name of this feature is Food Rescue. Under this feature, if someone cancels his order, then Jomata will offer to nearby customers that they can take this order at an economical rate. Deependra Goyal wrote on social media platform
More than four lakh orders are being canceled
Zomato CEO Deependra Goyal wrote on the social media platform, ‘Despite strict rules and no refund policy on cancellation, more than four lakh good orders are canceled by customers in Zomato for various reasons. The biggest concern for us, the restaurant industry, and even customers who cancel orders, is to somehow prevent food wastage. Today, we’re introducing a new feature (yet to be implemented Has been) – Food Rescue!’
Canceled orders will be visible to nearby customers
Deependra Goyal further wrote in the post, ‘Cancelled orders will now be visible to nearby customers. These orders will be delivered to them at extremely low prices, in their original packaging and within minutes. The canceled order will be visible on the customer’s app within a 3 km radius of the delivery partner who is picking up the order. However, to ensure freshness of the food, the option to take orders will be available only for a few minutes. Zomato will not make any profit on this except government tax.
Feature will not be applicable in these items
Deependra Goyal said that orders like ice cream, shakes, smoothies and perishable products like distance or temperature sensitive products will not be eligible for this feature. At the same time, restaurant owners will continue to receive compensation for the original canceled orders as before. Along with this, if the order is taken under the new feature, then a part of the payment made by the new customer will also be received.
Delivery partner will get full payment
According to Deependra Goyal, ‘So far most of the restaurants have opted for this facility. They can easily turn it off whenever they want from their control panel. The delivery partner will be paid in full from initial pickup till drop off at the new customer’s location. If there is a canceled order available for you, Food Rescue will automatically appear on your home page. Refresh your home page to check for any new available orders to be saved.
