Two vicious fraudsters, who committed a fraud of Rs 45 thousand in the capital by creating a fake ID of Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra, have been caught from Rajasthan. Within just five days of the fraud, Bhopal Cyber Crime Cell has arrested both the swindlers from Nagla Banjirka of Alwar.
Apart from the Bhopal Police Commissioner, the accused used to create fake Facebook IDs in the name of many IPS officers from across the country and used to cheat people by offering to sell old furniture at cheap prices. In this way, by now they had targeted more than 100 people and defrauded about Rs 30 lakh.
Were cheating for five years
Additional SP Shailendra Chauhan in Cyber Crime Cell said that the mastermind of the fraud, 24-year-old Shakeel alias Aash Muhammad, was committing cyber fraud with his friend Sunil Kumar for the last five years. They used to post posts of selling old goods on fake Facebook IDs of police officers.
In the greed of buying good goods at cheap prices, people would first contact him on messenger and then make the deal over the phone and send him money as advance amount. The accused would later switch off their mobile numbers or use abusive language.
The target was to make 60-70 calls every day.
According to SI Devendra Sahu, who went to Alwar to arrest the accused, the accused used to use several fake IDs on mobile simultaneously. He used to get many messages to buy cheap goods. The accused also used to make a target of calling 60 to 70 people every day. Two-three of these people got trapped in the trap of fraud and used to give money. The accused told that they used many numbers. They used to order these SIM cards at cheap prices on Telegram.

Shailendra Chauhan said that there are many villages in Nagla Banjirka area of Alwar, where people are largely involved in cyber crime. Rajasthan Police is running an “anti virus” campaign to take action against these people. Under this, police from other states are also reaching there and arresting the accused. Karnataka and Haryana police also raided the village from where the accused were caught.
