Little Gajraj, who got separated from his loved ones from the border of Bandhavgarh, was caught from Bandhavgarh on Wednesday by the forest staff of the district along with a team of elephants and the forest staff and was loaded in a vehicle and sent to Bandhavgarh. A few days ago, a group of elephants had crushed the villagers and due to the arrival of the elephant cub in Barwara area, there was an atmosphere of panic among the villagers, while the forest staff remained deployed for the safety of the elephant.

The elephant kept roaming near Vilayatkala, Nanhwara till late evening on Tuesday. The forest staff was keeping an eye on the cub based on its movements and while making announcements in the village the villagers were being instructed to stay away from the cub.

The elephant was roaming in the OS fields of Kuda village in the morning.

On Wednesday morning, the Forest Department team arrived from Bandhavgarh with elephants and along with it DFO Gaurav Sharma arrived with his staff. The elephant was roaming in Chandia area on Monday. After that, he crossed the bridge of Chhoti Mahanadi via Jugiya on Tuesday and kept roaming around Chhota Vilayatkala and Nanhwara. As soon as the news of the elephant’s arrival in the area was heard, there was a crowd of villagers to see it, while people were also in panic due to the incidents.

In the evening DFO Gaurav Sharma also reached the area and took information from the officials regarding the movement of the elephant. Till late evening, the forest staff remained deployed near the villages where the elephant was roaming and the villagers were also given advice.

The cub was part of the ten elephants that died in Umaria and its mother was also among those who died. After which he got separated from the remaining two elephants and after that he is wandering here and there, although the forest department officials have not yet given any confirmation regarding this.
