Angered by the new rules implemented in health services by the Chhattisgarh government, 20 doctors of the medical college cum hospital collectively submitted their resignation letters to the dean on Tuesday. Even before this, 20 doctors had resigned one by one over salary discrepancy. If the resignations of all these 20 doctors are accepted, the recognition of the medical college cum hospital may be in danger.

The doctors who resigned include senior, junior, contractual and regular doctors. Among them is Dr. Prakash Khunte, who is considered the backbone of the medical college. Already the Medical College cum Hospital is facing the problems of shortage of doctors, staff nurses, class IV employees and essential machines like City Scan, MRI, which the government has not been able to complete till now.

There is a huge shortage of doctors in the hospital

Now after the resignation of these 20 doctors, there will be a huge shortage of doctors treating patients in the hospital. The doctors who were currently providing their services have now resigned. The remaining doctors in the hospital do not contribute much in the treatment of patients. The Dialysis Center of the Medical College cum Hospital is also closed for the last one and a half month, due to which patients have to go to Bhilai and Raipur for treatment.
