Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated Maa Mahamaya Airport in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. This airport will provide air travel facilities to Surguja and its surrounding districts. Better connectivity and easy travel options

The launch of this service will help in air travel not only in Surguja but also in neighboring districts. Nearby districts include Jashpur, Surajpur, Balrampur, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur. This will provide easy access to the people living here to other parts of the country. Chhattisgarh government has claimed that this will give people the option of easy travel at low prices.

Will help in connecting tribal communities

After the ceremony, the CM said that the construction of Maa Mahamaya Airport is a historic moment for the region. CM Sai said that this is not just to make air travel convenient but it is an important step in connecting the tribal community and remote areas with the mainstream. Construction of an airstrip at Maa Mahamoy Airport in Ambikapur is one of the regional connectivity schemes of the Government of India.

Features of Maa Mahamaya Airport

Let us tell you that the airport is spread over 365 acres. It has cost Rs 80 crore to build it. The carrying capacity of this airport is to accommodate 72 seater aircraft. It has been placed in 3C- VFR category airport. The terminal building has been expanded to meet the projected capacity of 500,000 passengers annually.
