Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s son and MP Shrikant Shinde has been accused of breaking rules related to worship at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. It is alleged that Shiv Sena MP Shinde broke the rules and entered the sanctum sanctorum of Mahakaleshwar temple and worshiped Lord Mahakal. During this time, his wife and two other people were also present with him. This incident is said to have happened late Thursday evening, videos and photos of which are going viral on social media.
According to reports, Shrikant Shinde reached the temple during the evening aarti and entered the sanctum sanctorum and worshiped for about five minutes. However, according to the rules, only priests are allowed to enter the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple. Other devotees can have darshan from outside. The temple administration had implemented this rule about a year ago to ensure smooth running of the arrangements.
Meanwhile, questions have been raised regarding these pictures on the official X handle of the State Congress. In the post made by the state Congress, it has been said that ‘intoxicated with power, the leaders of BJP and their allies have started considering themselves above God. How will they like policies, rules and following them? The entry of the son of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra into the sanctum sanctorum of Baba Mahakal temple with his wife and two other people is not only a violation of rules but also of security. The party’s post further read, ‘The Chief Minister himself is from Ujjain, but he is not able to follow the rules in Baba Mahakal Temple.’
