Omar Abdullah’s order to the police as soon as he became the Chief Minister, whenever I go somewhere by road…

After becoming the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah has immediately taken a big decision. He has directed the Jammu and Kashmir Police to minimize the inconvenience caused to the common people. Also, whenever they go through any road, no green corridor should be made there. Omar Abdullah has become the first Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370 was revoked in August 2019. He took oath as Chief Minister on Wednesday. Besides, five other ministers were also sworn in by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

After becoming CM, Omar Abdullah wrote on social media platform I have instructed them to minimize the inconvenience caused to people and to minimize the use of sirens. Waving sticks or aggressive actions of any kind should be completely avoided. I am asking my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. Our behavior in everything should be friendly to people. We are there to serve the people, not to cause inconvenience to them.”

‘Soon we will get full statehood’

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the first task of his government will be to become the voice of the people and expressed hope that Jammu and Kashmir will not remain a Union Territory for long and will soon achieve full statehood. Hours before taking oath, the National Conference leader told PTI Videos that everything is fine with alliance partner Congress and his party is in talks with the Congress and its team to fill ministerial posts. He stressed that his government has a responsibility towards the people.

“We have got a mandate from the people to work towards solving their problems and that has been our aim from day one,” he said. On speculations of a rift between the National Conference and its alliance partner Congress, Omar quipped, “No, why is everything not fine. If everything is not fine, then why are (Mallikarjun) Kharge (Congress President), Rahul (Gandhi) and other senior Congress leaders coming here. “His presence here is an indication that the alliance is strong and we will work for the people (of Jammu and Kashmir).”
