Congress will not join Omar Abdullah government, had contested elections with NC only.


Omar Abdullah is going to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, there is news that Congress has refused to join the National Conference government. However, nothing has been said officially regarding this from the Congress side yet. It is being said that the party can support NC from outside. The special thing is that both the parties had contested the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections in alliance.

The NDTV report quoted sources as saying that Congress will not join the Jammu and Kashmir government. The party decided to support the government from outside. It is reported that Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Abdullah. Congress had won the elections on 6 seats in Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah is scheduled to take oath as the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the victory of the National Conference-Congress alliance in the first assembly elections held after the abrogation of Article 370. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will also administer the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Center (SKICC) at 11.30 am.

A senior Congress leader told PTI that the decision on ministerial posts for Congress MLAs in the new government will be taken by the party high command. Congress on Tuesday appointed Ghulam Ahmed Mir as the leader of its legislature party in Jammu and Kashmir.
