NCP leader Baba Siddiqui was shot by assailants outside the office of his son and MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui near Colgate Ground in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra East, Mumbai on Saturday night. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar has informed him that two shooters have been detained. The Chief Minister told television channels that one of them was from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana, while the third accused fled from the spot. Shinde said that the police is thoroughly investigating the matter and the search for the absconding attacker is going on. Siddiqui, a three-time MLA, had recently left Congress and joined Ajit Pawar’s NCP.
