EaseMyTrip resumes service for Maldives, had stopped due to tension


Online travel ticket booking platform EaseMyTrip has resumed flight booking services for Maldives. The company said that after the improvement in relations between the two countries, it has decided to resume bookings. EaseMyTrip had stopped booking flights to Maldives in January this year after the latter was embroiled in a dispute with India. What do the owners of EasyMyTrip say

Nishant Pitti, Co-Founder of EaseMyTrip, said that in view of the positive progress made by both the governments in improving India-Maldives bilateral relations, we are resuming bookings for Maldives. This decision has been taken after careful deliberations and constructive interactions with the Maldives Ministry of Tourism delegation and our office.

Nishant Pitti had sold his stake

Nishant Pitti, one of the promoters of Easy Trip Planners, sold 14 per cent stake in the company for Rs 920 crore through an open market transaction. During this period, Nishant Pitti sold 24,65,49,833 shares, which is equal to 14 percent stake in Easy Trip Planners. The shares were sold in the price range of Rs 37.22-38.28 per share. Thus the total size of the deal was Rs 920.06 crore. After the stake sale, Nishant Pitti’s stake in Easy Trip Planners has come down from 28.13 percent to 14.22 percent. The total stake of the promoters in the company has decreased from 64.30 percent to 50.39 percent.

Meanwhile, shares of Easy Trip Planners are trading at Rs 33.31 on BSE. This stock closed with a slight increase of 0.18% on Friday as compared to last Thursday. The share reached Rs 54 on 8 February 2024. This is also the 52-week high of the stock.
