Why are rich people looked at with hatred in India? Co-founder of broking platform Zerodha (Zerodha Co-Founder) Nitin Kamath (Nithin Kamath) Has answered this question. Kamath said that we are a society pretending to be socialist-capitalist. As long as there are inequalities between the rich and the poor, the situation is not going to improve.
What did you react to?
Actually, this question was asked by YourStory founder Shraddha Sharma to Nitin Kamath during the TechSparks 2024 event in Bengaluru. He had mentioned the difference between Indians and Americans in the way they treat rich people. Shraddha Sharma said- In America, if someone earns a lot of money, if he is very successful and buys new cars, then he comes on the cover page. All this is very normal there. Even as a society, rich people are not looked down upon. On the other hand in India people are very critical when someone earns money. We think there must be something wrong with this.
What did Nitin Kamath say?
44 year old Nitin Kamath agreed with this statement of Shraddha Sharma. Billionaire Kamath acknowledged the massive economic inequality in India. Along with this he pointed towards the socialist mentality of India. He said- America is a pure capitalist society. We are a society pretending to be socialist-capitalist. When Kamath was asked whether improvement was possible. On this he said that it is not a possibility. As long as economic inequality persists, I don’t see anything changing.
Let us tell you that in January this year, Nitin Kamath had to suffer a stroke. After about nine months, he was seen in a program for the first time. Nonetheless, his candid comments on society’s behavior towards the rich have sparked widespread debate on social media. Different types of reactions are coming on social media.
