The way is cleared for the release of Kangana’s film Emergency, Censor Board said – only a few cuts will be made

A hearing was held again in the Bombay High Court on Thursday regarding the ban on the release of Kangana Ranaut’s much talked about film Emergency. During this, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) said that this film of Kangana Ranaut can be released. Before this, some cuts will have to be made in the film, which were suggested by the review committee of the censor board. The board said this in front of the bench of Justice BP Colabawala and Justice Firdaus Poniwala. In this regard, film producer company Zee Studios says that it will consider this matter by Monday. Ji said that we will get information about what cuts can be made.

Now the court will hear this case next week. Zee Studios itself had filed an application in the court and demanded an order that a certificate be issued to it by the Censor Board. There were allegations regarding this film that the Sikh community was shown in a wrong way. After this the controversy escalated and the Censor Board put the release on hold. Zee Studios had said in the court that we had submitted our application before the Film Certification Board on August 29 itself. But till now we have not received the censor certificate from the board.

Earlier, the court had said that on September 4, we had told the Central Board of Film Certification to consider the objections of Jabalpur Sikh Sangat and other parties and then issue the certificate. Even after this no decision has been taken till now. After this, the court had asked the board to take a decision by September 25, but even then the matter kept getting postponed. Now regarding the release, the board said in the court that after the suggested cuts, the film can be released in theaters. In this film, Kangana Ranaut has played the role of former PM Indira Gandhi and the center point of this film is the emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975.
