The issue of using animal fat in the laddus at Lord Tirupati temple is not coming to a halt. A few days ago, TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu had alleged that animal fat was used in the Tirupati laddus during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government. Countering the allegations, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party YSR Congress has approached the court. Now in the case, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has appealed to the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter and start an investigation to find out the culprits.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the VHP’s Central Guidance Board held in Tirupati. VHP said in a release, “The Supreme Court should take suo motu cognizance of this matter and investigate it within a fixed time frame and identify the culprits of this unpardonable crime and give them severe punishment.” It said that there is no scope for negligence and delay in this matter, because if this happens, then the members of the Hindu community, who are already impatient over this matter, can start a nationwide movement.
According to the VHP, the Hindu community is shocked by the allegations and counter-allegations levelled by the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition YSRCP in the southern state against each other in the last four-five days over Tirupati laddus. It said these developments have hurt the sentiments of crores of devotees of Sri Balaji (Sri Venkateswara Swamy) across the world. The VHP said laddu prasadam (sacred sweet) is considered a blessing of God and is consumed with full faith.
He said the allegations of adulteration in the laddus were a “gross” insult to the devotees of Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
