Rishabh Pant played for Team India in the first Test match played between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. He returned to Test cricket after more than 600 days. Although he has played IPL 2024, T20 World Cup and some series, but after November 2022, he came back to play Test cricket directly in September 2024. In December 2022, he had a terrible car accident in which his life was saved somehow. After this, when he made a comeback and scored a century, former great Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist praised him and said that this is the best comeback in history.
Adam Gilchrist said about Rishabh Pant’s comeback in the Club Periyar Fire podcast, “One of the greatest comebacks in history. Now I don’t know if this game will start before our next step, but for Rishabh Pant I would say that there cannot be a stronger, tougher, psychological and physical return to the game than when he was on the field. How good is that? He returned to Test cricket 620 days after his tragic accident.”
Rishabh Pant scored a century in his comeback Test match and he was seen playing Test cricket in the same style for which he is known. He batted in an aggressive style. Even though he was out after scoring 39 runs in the first innings, Rishabh Pant scored a powerful century in the second innings against Bangladesh. He was also a contender for the Player of the Match, but R Ashwin left him behind by scoring a century in the first innings and taking 6 wickets in the second innings. In such a situation, Ashwin got the Player of the Match award instead of Pant. Rishabh Pant is ready for every match and he is seen practicing the most.
