Chennai
Team India’s dashing bowler Jaspreet Bumrah has touched the magical figure of 400 wickets in international cricket. He is only the 10th bowler to do so from India, while if we talk about pacers, Bumrah is only the sixth Indian pacer. The first Test match of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh is being played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Before the tea break on the second day of the match, Bangladesh had lost eight wickets for 112 runs. Just before the tea break, Jaspreet Bumrah gave the eighth blow to Bangladesh by getting Hasan Mahmud caught by Virat Kohli. This wicket proved to be a milestone in Bumrah’s career, in this way he completed 400 international wickets. Bumrah has become the 10th name in the list of bowlers who have taken 400 or more international wickets from India.

Before Bumrah, Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami and Ishant Sharma have achieved this feat. Kumble, Ashwin, Jadeja and Harbhajan are spinners, while the rest have been fast bowlers. In this way, Bumrah has become the sixth fast bowler of India who has touched the figure of 400 international wickets. Bumrah sent three Bangladeshi batsmen to the pavilion before the tea break on the second day. This includes a wicket on the last ball of the first over.

If we talk about the bowlers who took 400 international wickets for India in the least number of innings, then Bumrah is at number five in this list. R Ashwin did this in 216 innings, Kapil Dev in 220 innings, Mohammed Shami in 224 innings, Anil Kumble in 226 innings while Bumrah did this in 227 innings. After this comes the name of Harbhajan Singh, who did this feat in 237 innings.
