15 doctors of the Public Health and Medical Education Department will serve in the Gas Relief Hospitals under the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department. These doctors have been posted in the Gas Relief Hospitals for a deputation period of 2 years.
The doctors posted in the Gas Relief Hospitals operating in Bhopal city include one medical specialist, one surgical specialist, one orthopedist, one gynecologist, one anesthesiologist and 10 medical officers. Out of these 15 doctors posted on deputation, the medical specialist has taken charge in Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, the surgical specialist and the gynecologist have taken charge in Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital. Similarly, two medical officers have taken charge in Kamala Nehru Hospital and one medical officer each has taken charge in Jawahar Lal Nehru Hospital, Shakir Ali Khan Hospital and Rasool Ahmed Siddiqui Pulmonary Medicine Center.
It is noteworthy that to fill the vacancies of specialist doctors and medical officers in gas relief hospitals, the Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Department had sent a demand letter to the Public Health and Medical Education Department for the services of doctors on deputation. Accepting the demand for posting on deputation, Health Department issued orders on 27 August to provide services of 15 doctors on deputation in gas relief hospitals.
