Now the sale of spoiled grains in the warehouses of Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation will be done outside the state as well

Bhopal
The grains spoiling in the warehouses of Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Marketing Federation (Markfed) can now be sold to non-licensed parties outside the state. Markfed purchases agricultural produce at the support price within the state and stores it in its warehouses. If the grain is kept in the warehouses for a long time, it spoils. Markfed could sell the agricultural produce stored in its warehouses only to those traders who have a license in the Mandi Samiti within MP.

Apart from this, grains cannot be sold to anyone else. In such a situation, traders from outside the state were not able to purchase this agricultural produce because they do not have a license. Licensed traders within the state do not show interest in purchasing these agricultural produce. For this, Madhya Pradesh Mandi Board has made new provisions by amending the rules issued in the year 2019. According to this, Markfed will be able to sell its agricultural produce to non-licensed traders outside the state and the transport permit for self-lifting of goods will be issued from the portal.

Every year, grains worth lakhs get spoiled
Grain worth lakhs of rupees kept in Markfed godowns gets spoiled due to lack of maintenance. Negligence of employees has also come to light many times, but due to the indifference of the officers, neither action can be taken against the employees nor the grain can be saved from getting spoiled. Therefore, now Markfed has found a new way and has made arrangements to dispose of the spoiled grain outside the state.
