ADB’s global experience will help in strengthening health services in Madhya Pradesh: Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla has said that Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been providing support in public welfare works for the last several years. ADB’s global experience and cooperation will help in strengthening health services in Madhya Pradesh. A delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla at Mantralaya Vallabh Bhawan and discussed various topics of cooperation with Madhya Pradesh in the health sector.

Various interventions were discussed to strengthen health services
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla discussed with the ADB delegation various interventions to strengthen health services in Madhya Pradesh. The ADB delegation informed about the efforts being made by ADB in various countries for strengthening health policies including cooperation in control of communicable, non-communicable diseases, advanced diagnostics and latest treatment system for elimination of TB. Along with this, the cooperation being done by ADB in the health sector in various states was discussed in detail and the areas of cooperation in Madhya Pradesh were discussed. It is noteworthy that in the last 25 years, ADB has provided cooperation in the areas of energy, infrastructure, urban development etc. in Madhya Pradesh.

Education and health are the top priorities of the government
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that India’s economy has strengthened under the strong and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that education and health are the subjects of top priority of Prime Minister Shri Modi. Public welfare schemes are being run to provide excellent education to children and youth and easy and accessible medical services to every citizen. Continuous efforts are being made to ensure strong and easy availability of these services.

Continuous efforts to strengthen health services
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Shukla said that infrastructure expansion and availability of state-of-the-art equipment is being ensured in the health sector. Efforts are being made to establish medical colleges in 12 districts on PPP mode to ensure private participation in strengthening health services. He said that seats for MBBS and specialist courses have been increased to ensure availability of skilled manpower in the health sector. The process of appointing more than 25 thousand manpower in the health sector is underway in the next 2 years. Continuous efforts are being made to ensure availability of specialists in rural areas.

The ADB delegation included Director Health (Human and Social Development South Asia) ADB Dr. Eduardo Banzon, Director (Human and Social Development South Asia) ADB Mrs. G. Soon Sang, Principal Health Specialist ADB Dr. Dinesh Arora and Senior Health Specialist ADB Dr. Nishant Jain. Principal Secretary Health Mr. Sandeep Yadav, Commissioner Health Mr. Tarun Rathi, Additional Commissioner Medical Education Dr. Pankaj Jain, Additional CEO of Agpa Mr. Lokesh Sharma and other senior departmental officials were present in the meeting.
