Forest and Environment Minister Shri Ramniwas Rawat said that it is necessary to increase sensitivity towards pollution in all sections of the society. He said that diseases like breathing problems and high blood pressure are now being seen more commonly at a young age. Minister Shri Rawat said this during the review meeting of the Environment Department in the Ministry. He said that it is also necessary to increase monitoring on noise pollution. To get rid of pollution, efforts should be made to increase life expectancy through public awareness.

Environment Minister Shri Rawat expressed concern over the increasing health problems among citizens due to pollution, such as blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and respiratory diseases. He stressed the need to connect sewage water of every house to the sewer so that polluted water does not mix with sewage sources. He said that proposals should be prepared to stop the pollution caused by the polluted water of urban bodies and industries in Narmada and Kshipra rivers. The use of clean fuel like CNG should be promoted in place of polluting fuels like coal etc. used in industries. Shri Rawat said that continuous pollution measurement plants should be established to monitor 17 types of special polluting industries and water and air pollution.

Minister Shri Rawat said that Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board will be made more strong and empowered. He said that to overcome the current shortage of human resources in the board, a proposal should be prepared soon for recruitment to vacant posts. Minister Shri Rawat stressed on the urgent need for solid waste management and control of noise pollution from marriage gardens. He said that due to lack of adequate arrangements for water pollution control by various building projects and not obtaining prior permission from Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, water sources get polluted, strict action should be taken on this.

Minister Shri Rawat said that many inter-departmental issues are involved in the work of pollution control. For this, necessary coordination should also be established with the Urban Housing and Development Department, Industries Department, Mineral Department etc. Shri Rawat directed all the regional officers to bring pollution related problems of their area to my notice. He said that to get rid of pollution, efforts should be made to increase life expectancy through public awareness. Minister Shri Rawat observed the presentations given by the departmental officers. Minister Shri Rawat also praised the work being done by the Board. Principal Secretary Environment-cum-Chairman Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board Shri Gulshan Bamra, Member Secretary of the Board Shri Achyutanand Mishra and various regional officers of the Board were present in the review meeting.
