Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party suffered a crushing defeat in the by-election for the Montreal seat

Toronto
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party has suffered a crushing defeat in the by-election held in the Montreal seat. After this, his chair is in danger. This seat has been considered the stronghold of his party. Despite this, Trudeau’s party has suffered a crushing defeat. After facing a humiliating defeat in the federal by-election, the opposition is planning to bring a no-confidence motion against the Justin Trudeau government early next week.

Results released on Monday said that ruling Liberal Party candidate Laura Palestinian was defeated by separatist Bloc Quebecois candidate Louis-Philippe Sauvé. In this by-election, Louis-Philippe Sauvé got 28 per cent votes, while Liberal Party candidate Laura Palestinian got 27.2% votes. The New Democratic Party candidate came in third, getting 26.1 per cent votes.

The by-election on this seat has been held due to the resignation of former cabinet minister and Liberal Party MP David Lamitie, who resigned from the post of MP earlier this year. He won the 2021 federal election by a margin of about 20 percent. This is the second major defeat for Canada’s ruling party within three months. Earlier in June, the Liberal Party had to face defeat in a safe stronghold like Toronto. After these two defeats, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s difficulties have increased as federal elections are to be held in October next year.

Trudeau’s next challenge is coming next week, when the opposition Conservative Party will bring a no-confidence motion against the Justin Trudeau government in Parliament. Opposition parties are preparing for this. Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre has indicated this through a post on X. He wrote, “Taxes have increased. Costs have increased. Crime has increased. Time is also up now.”

The threat of a no-confidence motion against the Trudeau government is also looming because Poilievre wants to hold early elections. According to a survey report released by agency Abacus Data on Monday, if elections are held at this time, the Conservative Party may get 43 per cent votes, while Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party is expected to get only 22 per cent votes. Liberals. The agency said, “The gap between the Conservatives and the Liberals has increased by 4 per cent since our last survey in August.”

Let us tell you that after nine years of tenure, Justin Trudeau is rapidly becoming unpopular in Canada. Now even the Khalistanis seem to be angry with Trudeau who is running the government with the support of Khalistan supporters. In such a situation, the road ahead may be difficult for him.
