The counselling process for admission in veterinary diploma colleges across the state started on Wednesday. Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary and Science University Jabalpur has made major changes in the rules in this process which will run from 18 September to 3 October. Every year the seats in government diploma colleges are filled, but the seats in non-government colleges remain vacant.
This time, the Veterinary Universities across the state have removed the requirement of cut-off from counselling. This means that all those who are in the merit list of the Veterinary Diploma Pre-Test and those who have passed the test will be able to participate in the counselling. This time, in the advertisement issued by the University’s counselling committee, it is written ‘eligible (passing) students’ in front of the column of students of all categories.
The university’s intention is to fill the seats of private veterinary diploma colleges
Actually, the university’s intention is to fill the seats of private veterinary diploma colleges. There are five government, five non-government veterinary diploma and one diploma dairy science colleges in the state. The university is responsible for everything from recognition of all the six non-government colleges to compliance of rules, but every year the seats of government diploma colleges are filled, but the seats of non-government colleges remain vacant.
Increased pressure of non-government colleges
There are non-government veterinary diploma colleges in many districts of the state including Indore and Gwalior. Many of these colleges are owned by public representatives and industrialists, whose pressure on the post of Veterinary University is constantly increasing. Some time back, the university also conducted an inspection to update the recognition of these colleges.
Instead of taking action against two colleges, they were given time
Major irregularities were found in two colleges but instead of taking action on it the university gave them time. While even now the rules related to conducting the Veterinary Diploma course are not followed in many colleges, but due to increasing pressure in the university this too is being ignored. In the past also big cases of paper leak and cheating were caught during examinations in private colleges but no action was taken. A committee was only formed for formality and after some time the matter was suppressed. This time also due to their increasing pressure on counselling the compulsion of cutoff has been removed.
Registration will be done till 23rd – colleges can be changed till three
- This time the university will conduct counseling in two phases. Seat-college allocation will begin from the 26th.
- The first phase has started from September 18, the second phase is starting from October 4.
- Candidates can register for the first counselling process from 18 to 23 September.
- Fees will be deposited from 27 to 30 September. Information on vacant seats will be available on 3 October

This time only 5000 students have passed the diploma entrance exam. The university has 1000 seats for diploma. Many of the 5000 students will not get admission during the verification of documents and other procedures. Due to this, the compulsion of cut-off has been removed from the counseling.
