Chhattisgarh- Income Tax Department team reached Saumya Chaurasia’s residence in Durg, pasted notices for property attachment

The Income Tax Department has now pasted a notice of property attachment at the residence of Saumya Chaurasia, who was a Deputy Secretary in the previous government and is lodged in Raipur Central Jail in connection with the Chhattisgarh coal scam in Durg. Separate notices have been pasted at house number A1 and A22 of Surya Residency.

The Income Tax Department has provisionally attached the plots A1 and A22 of Surya Residency under Section 24/4 of the Benami Property Transactions Prohibition Act 1988 by the order of the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Benami Prohibition Unit Raipur. This order has been pasted by the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Benami Prohibition Unit Raipur and the Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation), Raipur. Let us tell you that Saumya Chaurasia, who was the Deputy Secretary of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has been lodged in Raipur jail for the last 16 months in the alleged coal scam and money laundering case. Earlier, the investigation was being conducted by the Enforcement Directorate. The notice pasted by ED in house number 103 of Block A of Surya Residency has not been removed till now. Suryakant Tiwari, Sunil Agarwal, IAS Ranu Sahu and Sameer Bishnoi, along with Saumya Chaurasia, have also been arrested by ED on different dates in the coal scam and money laundering case. Till now ED has attached properties worth Rs 222 crore in these cases.
