The existence of Mathurpur village is in danger due to the cutting of the project to save Mathurpur-Sujanpur, Kurtaihiya villages in Dhaurahra area of Lakhimpur Kheri. 400 families of the village are in trouble. The villagers have started migrating. However, the flood section is engaged in anti-erosion work at a fast pace. The SDM himself is monitoring the rescue work.
The flood section had built a dam at a cost of Rs 5 crore to protect Mathurpur, Sujanpur, Kurtaihiya villages of Block Ramiyabehad of Dhaurahra tehsil from floods and erosion. This project was washed away in the first rain by the flow of river Ghaghra.
200 workers engaged in anti-erosion work
Four hundred families of Mathurpur village are facing difficulties due to the dam breaking. Villagers are breaking their houses and migrating with essential goods. On the other hand, to save the village, the flood section has speeded up the anti-erosion work by employing 200 workers and six JCBs.
SDM Rajesh Kumar, Tehsildar Aditya Vishal, Naib Tehsildar and Revenue team are monitoring the situation. SDM Rajesh Kumar said that he himself has been staying in the village for two days and monitoring the anti-erosion work. Flood block officers are also carrying out rescue work throughout the night. XEN Flood Block Sharda Nagar Ajay Kumar said that anti-erosion work is being done on a large scale to save the village. There is trouble due to the fast flow.
Land including crops submerged in Sharda river
120 acres of land of about 70 farmers of Sirsi Nakhaiya, Laukhaniya Jatpurwa and Bhulanpur of Tahara Gram Panchayat and partially Sohariya village has been submerged in the river along with crops. Despite this information, no rescue work has been started in this village. Villagers Vinod Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Banwari Lal, Vishwabhar, Gargi Prasad etc. told that despite the information, no official has reached the village till now.
