Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing to take back the Kursk region occupied by Ukrainian troops. For this, Russian soldiers will counterattack. However, it will not be easy for the Russian army to do so. They will have to face a tough battle. CIA Deputy Director David Cohen said this on Wednesday. According to Cohen, Ukraine has occupied about 300 square miles i.e. 777 square km of the Russian province.
Let us tell you that on August 6, the Ukrainian army crossed Russia’s western border and captured the Kursk region. By doing this, it surprised a strong nation like Russia. However, Ukraine says that it has no intention of keeping this area under its control. This has been done just for some time. Cohen has given this information in the Intelligence and National Security Summit.
“Russia could launch a forceful attack on Ukraine to regain that territory. I think it will be a tough battle for the Russians. They will not only have to deal with the fact that there is now a front line within Russian territory that they have to deal with, but they will also have to deal with the resonance in their society that they have lost a part of Russian territory,” he said.
Let us tell you that Ukraine has claimed to have captured 100 settlements in its invasion of Russia’s Kursk region. At the same time, the Russian army is advancing in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. Cohen said that Russia is spending a lot of money on troops and equipment, but they are not going to get success.
Last Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the war with Russia would eventually end through negotiations, but Kiev would have to be in a strong position and he would present a plan to US President Joe Biden and his two possible successors.
