Jagdalpur: Divisional Forest Officer Uttam Kumar Gupta said that keeping parrots and other scheduled birds in captivity and buying and selling them falls under the category of crime under the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 as amended in May-2022, which provides for imprisonment (up to 3 years) and fine.
Therefore every person who has parrots and other scheduled birds, wild animals should contact Uday Singh, Forest Officer (In Charge Officer Lamani Park Birds Aviary) within 7 days and hand over all the birds and wild animals to the Birds Aviary of Lamani Park located in Jagdalpur. Also, such birds which are healthy and can be released in the natural habitat should be released as soon as possible in front of the above concerned person or any other forest officer and if these birds and wild animals are bought, sold or kept at home at any place, then inform.
