14 IAS officers of the state will go to conduct the assembly elections of Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana to be held in September-October. The Election Commission of India has appointed them as observers. Most of these officers are those who have already been sent as observers for the Lok Sabha and other state elections.
The General Administration Department has instructed all officers to work according to the guidelines given by the commission. Also, keep guiding subordinates so that the work of the department is not affected.
Officials of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office said that the work of observers will begin with the start of the nomination process. Their responsibility will be to ensure compliance of the Model Code of Conduct in the allotted assembly constituency.
Also, a meeting has been held by the Election Commission officials regarding the things that the observers have to keep in mind. On the other hand, the General Administration Department has asked all the departments to pay attention to the preparations so that the work of the officials is not affected when they go on election duty.
