The Janata Party government was formed and the film’s director Amrit Nahata became an MP on a Janata Party ticket. The case of burning the prints of Amrit Nahata’s film reached the court and the court sentenced Sanjay Gandhi to two years in prison in 1979.

However, when the film was being made for the second time, Raj refused to work in the film. In such a situation, Amrit Nahata made the film with Raj Kiran, Surekha Sikri and Shabana Azmi. But the film proved to be a flop at the box office.
