According to the website of the Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok on Monday, 26 August on the occasion of Janmashtami. Banks are also closed in Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur on this day. There will be no work in banks on 26 August in Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla and Srinagar.
In September, apart from gazetted holidays in different states, banks will remain closed on the occasion of local festivals. On September 4, banks will remain closed in Guwahati on the occasion of Tirubhav of Srimanta Shankardev. On September 7, there is a bank holiday in most places on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrat/Vinayak Chaturthi. Banks will also not open on Karma Puja/First Onam on September 14 and Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad (Prophet Mohammad’s birthday) (Bara Wafat) on September 16. Banks will also remain closed in some places on Indrajatra/Eid-e-Milad (Milad-un-Nabi) on the 17th. Banks will also remain closed in different places on the 18th, 20th, 21st and 23rd.
