The former First Lady revealed how there was one thing about her husband that she forced him to change. Michelle made the admission on The Tonight Show to host Jimmy Fallon in 2018 after the release of her bestselling memoir ‘Becoming’.
Michelle admitted that her husband’s tardiness was an issue when they first got together.
She said: “He wasn’t good with time until we got married.”
Jimmy asked her: “You said the first time you met him, right?”
Michelle replied: “First day of work, his first job, dude was late.
“I said that’s where hope actually began.
“He was hopeful that he would get home.
“So I had to start telling him, ‘Well, you tell me where you are, and I’ll tell you how long it’ll take you to get home.’”
The ex-FLOTUS said that he did not inherit her family’s “on-time” genes.
She said: “He didn’t get our on-time gene.
“He’s much better now after 26 years of marriage.”
Before becoming First Lady, Michelle attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
She had a career as an attorney at a Chicago Law firm called Sidley & Austin, where she also met her husband Barack Obama.
She then worked at the Chicago mayor’s office, the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Medical Centre.
Her best-selling memoir, ‘Becoming’, sold more copies than any other book published in the US in 2018.
